RON platforms for notary signing agents, compared
For a notary signing agent taking loan packages remotely: which platforms run real-estate closings, which let an independent signing agent in, by sending you signings or by licensing you an account, and which are sold only to lenders and title offices. Every cell comes from the vendor's own pages or a state's own list. The other use cases sit under RON platforms by the work you do.
Table last checked
Best for loan signings sent to you
Snapdocs's free Notary Connect Network passes mobile and RON signings from its title and lender clients to independent notaries after background screening and proof of insurance; RON offers grow with the profile.
Best for contract loan-signing work
NotaryCam runs its own eClose sessions with contract notaries; its real estate listing asks for NNA signing-agent certification, E&O naming RON and signing-agent cover, and an IdenTrust certificate.
Best if your title clients send you their own files
Secured Signing sells RON to individual notaries for their own clients and has a title plan, issues the X.509 certificate itself and says it is MISMO certified.
Fig. 1Three ways onto a loan platform
On a mortgage file you rarely choose the platform. The lender or the title office has already picked one that its investor and its title insurer accept, and it brings you onto that platform for the closing. So the useful question is not which platform is best, but how a signing agent gets onto each one. There are three doors, and most busy signing agents use more than one.
Sends you signings
The platform takes the order from a title company, lender or signer and offers it to notaries it has approved.

The comparison table
Only platforms whose own pages say they run real-estate closings or loan packages are in the table: the 8 with a door for an independent signing agent first, then the 6 sold to lenders and title offices. The first three columns are the signing agent's questions; the rest are what a state rule asks of the platform. A check means the vendor's page says it, an em dash means the page we read is silent, and the last column covers the 8 state lists we read.

What the loan asks of the session
A loan the lender plans to sell to Fannie Mae has to meet Fannie Mae's Selling Guide, and the guide sets terms for the remote session itself. These are the lines that touch the signing agent on the session.
| Line | What the Selling Guide asks | What it means for the signing agent |
|---|---|---|
| 01 | Identity through technical means: an image of the borrower's government ID with its authenticity validated, then a check that the borrower matches it (for example, knowledge-based authentication); or non-technical means the law permits, such as personal knowledge or a credible witness. | The platform's ID flow is the lender's checkbox, not a courtesy. Know what the platform does when a borrower fails a step before you open the session. |
| 02 | The system complies with the MISMO RON Standards Version 2.0 (the draft published for public comment in July 2025, as amended) except the Identification & Authentication section, and with the final version once it is published. | This is why a lender names the platform. A vendor's “MISMO certified” badge is its own claim; what the standard covers is in MISMO RON standards for notaries. |
| 03 | The lender stores the tamper-sealed audit trail the RON system produces until it can hand it to the servicer for the loan file. | The audit trail is the lender's record of your session. It does not replace your own journal entry or your state's recording duty. |
| 04 | The notary is licensed and physically located in the state in which the notarial act is performed and, where the law requires it, specifically licensed for electronic notarization. | Sit in your commissioning state for the whole session, with your state's remote authority already granted, whichever state the property is in. |
| 05 | Where a document must be recorded, the county recorder where the property is located accepts the remotely notarized document. | Whether the deed of trust can go remote is settled by the title office against the county before the order reaches you. |
| 06 | A remotely notarized security instrument is delivered with the Remote Notarization Indicator, meets Fannie Mae's title requirements, and the title insurer takes no exception to any element being remotely notarized. | The title insurer signs off on the remote closing. That is why title and lender pick the platform and you are invited onto it. |
| 07 | The mortgage loan is not a Texas Section 50(a)(6) loan. | A Texas home-equity package of that type stays off RON for a loan sold to Fannie Mae; expect it at the table in person. |
| 08 | A lender may not require a borrower to use remote notarization and must have other notary options available on request. | A remote order can turn into a hybrid or in-person signing. Keep your mobile kit ready alongside the platform. |
Source: Selling Guide A2-4.1-03, Fannie Mae. It binds loans sold to Fannie Mae; other investors and lenders set their own terms.
The whole order-to-upload flow of a remote package is walked in RON for loan signings.

Before your first remote loan package
A signing agent who works several platforms can end up holding more than one certificate. The one you bought for your own clients may not be accepted on the platform a title office invites you to, so check before you accept the order. Certificate issuers and what each platform takes are compared in notary digital certificate providers.

How we compared
Which providers sit on the most state lists, across every use and not only loans, is in state-approved RON platforms.
Questions notaries ask
Can a signing agent use their own RON platform for a loan signing?
Which RON platforms send loan signings to independent signing agents?
Of the 6 loan platforms here that route work to notaries, 3 name loan or mortgage signings on their own pages: Clear Sign (Rocket Close), Snapdocs, NotaryCam. The others route general notary work, or their pages do not say what kind.
Which loan platforms are lender-side only?
Simplifile eSign Events (ICE), Stavvy, Expedite (ICE, formerly DocVerify), Blend Close, DocMagic eNotary (Total eClose), Qualia. Their pages sell to lenders, title or settlement offices and describe no account for an independent notary, so you reach them only when an office assigns you.
What is a hybrid closing?
Can I do a remote loan signing for a property in another state?
Fannie Mae's Selling Guide asks that the notary be licensed and physically located in the state where the notarial act is performed, and that the county where the property sits accepts the remotely notarized document for recording. The title office settles the county question; your part is to be in your own commissioning state for the whole session.
